What causes a slow draining sink?
There are several possible reasons why your sink is draining slow, including:
Accumulated hair and soap scum
In bathroom sinks, hair and soap residue can accumulate in the drain creating a blockage that restricts water flow.
Food residue
In kitchen sinks, food particles, grease, and oils can build up over time, especially if a garbage disposal is used. These substances stick to the pipe walls, narrowing the passage and slowing drainage.
Mineral buildup
In some areas hard water can lead to mineral deposits in the pipes, which can contribute to slow drainage.
Bent or misaligned pipes
Bent pipes can slow the draining of a sink as they disrupt the flow of water through the drain system.
Clogged vent pipe
Blockages restrict the flow of water, leading to slower drainage.
Faulty or outdated plumbing fixtures
If fixtures arn’t functioning properly, they can cause blockages or slow down the drainage.
Regular maintenance can prevent these issues. If you are experiencing any of these issues, we advise consulting an experienced plumber sooner rather than later. Don’t hesitate to Contact us.
Why does my toilet keep running?
A running toilet can be caused by any of the following:
Flapper issues
This is a rubber seal at the bottom of the tank that controls water flow into the bowl, if it is worn out, damaged, or not sealing properly, water will leak from the tank into the bowl.
Fill valve problems
The fill valve controls the water flow into the tank. If it is malfunctioning or set too high, it can cause water to overflow into the overflow tube, leading to a running toilet.
Chain issues
The chain connecting the flush handle to the flapper must have the right length. If it is too short, it may prevent the flapper from closing completely. If it is too long, it can get caught, causing the flapper to remain open.
Overflow tube
If the water level in the tank is too high, it can spill into the overflow tube, causing the toilet to run.
Regular maintenance can prevent these issues. If you are experiencing any of these issues, we advise consulting an experienced plumber sooner rather than later. Don’t hesitate to Contact us.
